EU Adds HTX Crypto Exchange to Russia Sanctions List

The EU has sanctioned crypto exchange HTX for providing services in Russia, aligning with earlier UK measures. This adds HTX to a list of entities defying EU restrictions, increasing pressure on the platform.

The European Union has recently added the HTX crypto exchange to its list of entities under sanctions for its activities in Russia. This decision means HTX is now among 18 companies accused of offering crypto-asset or payment services, which goes against the EU's restrictions aimed at Russia. The United Kingdom had already imposed similar sanctions on HTX, formerly known as Huobi. These actions show a growing global effort by regulators to ensure that crypto platforms comply with international financial rules and do not help sanctioned countries bypass economic penalties. This increases the scrutiny on crypto firms.
